THE LIGHT OF CHRIST

Hey everyone how is it going?
Things here are going pretty well. I’ll start off telling you a story that started off happy but ended very sadly. On Sunday there was a guy named Jerry who found himself in our church. He even got up and bore his testimony and this man is not a member of the church. He bore his testimony about how he misses both of his wives that both died of cancer. It was sad to hear him talk about this. After the meeting was over we went and talked to him. He felt the spirit so strong through out the rest of church. He told us we could come by that day and teach him. We taught him about the Book of Mormon and asked him to be baptized and he accepted. Elder Goden (my amazing companion) and I were really excited about it. Jerry told us he feels like he believes all about the Book of Mormon and thought that all of what we had taught him made sense. The next day we went and taught him the word of wisdom cause we had a feeling he has a problem with coffee and tea. He made a promise, not only us but to God as well that he would live the word of wisdom and give up coffee. So we had another appointment to meet with him on Tuesday and it was great. Our branch president was there and we taught him the plan of salvation and he liked it. We asked him how the word of wisdom was going and he said he hadn’t drank coffee and he was feeling good. This man was set. He was so ready to get baptized but then of course; Satan started working on him the second we left. We went and saw him yesterday and he told us he doesn’t see why he has to give up coffee and he told us he’s not going to. We did our best to explain to him that this commandment came directly from his Heavenly Father and that it’s real but he didn’t want to listen. He’s not gonna be able to be baptized. We are going to continue to go over and work with him. He will feel the spirit so strong and will be baptized I’m sure. That was a pretty sad thing that happened but its ok cause I know one day that Jerry will give up coffee and it will be great for him. Another very great spiritual experience in which I went through on Tuesday was with a lady named Elvia. She knows a little bit about our church because she friends with a member. We found Elvia our first day here and she told us to come back. We went back on Tuesday. I felt the impression that we needed to sing a hymn (which I never do in lessons). We sang “I Am A Child Of God” and it was so cool. The spirit entered into the room and it was amazing. She had her grandson on her lap and before we sang he was noisy but once we started singing he didn’t make a sound. My testimony on music has grown since I’ve been here. Singing hymns really does invite the spirit and makes it such a more peaceful and powerful experience. We went on and taught her the restoration and it went really good. She enjoyed it all and we are going to go back and teach her tomorrow. I love this gospel and it’s the way to find true happiness and peace in my life and I’m grateful for the opportunity I have to be here in Alpine and share that testimony with people. Thanks for all your support and I love you guys. Keep on keepin on! Love Wes
